Metallic Nitride and Carbide Perovskites: History and Prospects

Energy-level diagrams for cubic metallic Fe 4 N and Mn were proposed by Goodenough in the late 1960s. is ferromagnetic, but ferrimagnetic with a large moment on c at cube corner site much smaller antiparallel contribution from f three face-centre sites. Neutron diffraction revealed noncollinear ferrimagnetism no compensation where moments form 120° triangular antiferromagnetic sublattices are tilted out of kagome (111) planes to give small net sublattice moment. A rich variety magnetic ordering exists ternary 3−x M′ x perovskites. Partial substitution nonmagnetic sites leads tunable point. Two possible modes topological Γ 4g mode, nontopological 5g mode in-plane components spins lie, respectively, perpendicular parallel edges if triangles . Interest perovskites has revived availability high-quality thin films that facilitate measurements magneto-transport properties, strain effects spin wave velocity. The range structures, magnetotransport, magnetocaloric magnetovolume exceptionally large. ferrimagnets exhibit anomalous Hall effects. magnetism compared materials replaced C.
